Wade Ford supports Atlanta Mission’s Shelter for Women and Children

On Wednesday, January 27,  Steve Ewing, the owner of Wade Ford presented a $2,500 plus check to the Atlanta Mission and serve lunch at My Sister’s House along with 12 of his dealership employees.

Employees of Wade Ford, located in Smyrna, have been collecting donations of clothing and money for Atlanta Mission’s shelter for women and children, My Sister's Place, as part of their employee community outreach program.

"It's important for local businesses to get involved and we appreciate their donations," said Don Wilkinson, manager of partnerships at the Atlanta Mission. "They will be used to help provide food for the 800 meals we serve every day at My Sister's House."

Wade Ford is committed to giving back as Ewing says that community support is an important dealership priority, particularly at this time of year.

“We are proud to give back to our community and support the Atlanta Mission,” said Ewing. “The Atlanta area is home to over 7,000 homeless people who face tough conditions, especially during the winter months.”

Additional community efforts driven by Wade Ford include sponsoring the Wade Ford Summer Concert Series each year, the Campbell High School soccer and football teams, and participating in Ford’s Drive 4 UR School program alternating support for local high schools,  cancer walks, coat drives, Toys for Tots, can drives and supporting other activities in Cobb and Fulton counties.

Winter Driving Tips -- From Wade Ford

Safe winter driving requires knowledge, preparation and nerves as cold as the temperatures outside. As Mother Nature unleashes her icy wrath, take a moment to review these tips and tricks for driving in a winter wonderland:

Vehicle Preparation Tips

The cold temperatures and unpredictable precipitation can be tough on roadways and even tougher on your car, truck or SUV. Help minimize the impact of the harsh conditions, make sure your vehicle is ready.
  • Check Your Windshield Wipers – Think driving in the rain with streaky wipers is tough; it’s that much worse when snow and sleet is falling. If your wipers are in need of replacing, now’s the time to do it. Driving through a blizzard is tough enough without having to contend with unnecessary smears across your field of vision. Also make sure to keep your windshield washer fluid topped off. Grab a spare bottle or two and stow it in your trunk or cargo area for emergencies.
  • How’s that Battery Holding Up? – It’s always important to have a professional look over your battery and charging system before the cold temperatures put added strain on them. Most newer vehicles won’t require regular battery service. But if you’re driving a car with a few miles or years on it, you want to make sure your battery can handle the coming winter. The last thing you want is an old battery leaving you stuck when the temperature reaches a new low in your area.
  • Keep it Cool – Don’t let the name fool you, your coolant system is very important when driving in winter conditions. Not only does antifreeze prevent your car from succumbing to the cold temperatures, many can experience engine overheating problems as winter temperatures cause issues in the cooling system. Make sure your coolant is at the levels recommended in the owner’s manual and perform any needed maintenance on the coolant system. When in doubt, have the system tested by a professional.
  • Have an Emergency Kit Ready – When weather conditions make driving impossible, or an unforeseen issue has you stranded, have supplies on hand. Emergency response can take added time in winter conditions, so make sure you’re ready. A well-stocked emergency kit should include: a snow brush and ice scraper, a blanket to keep warm, spare gloves and boots and some rations in case you’re stuck on the side of the road for a bit.
Do’s and Don’ts of Winter Driving

The easiest way to stay safe during winter weather events is not to drive in them. But if you must, here are a few recommendations that can help you get from A to B as safely as possible.

Do
  • Slow down and give yourself lots of room to stop. When roads are slick, every second counts.
  • Make sure your windows and headlamps are completely clear before driving. Poor visibility is dangerous for you and everyone else around you.
  • Use low gears for maximum traction on slippery or snow-covered roads.
Don’t
  • Use cruise control when traveling in slippery conditions.
  • Drive distracted. Keep your phone away and your eyes on the road.
  • Be overconfident. Just because you may have four-wheel drive or snow tires doesn’t make your vehicle immune to poor driving conditions.
Winter driving requires patience, preparation and a light touch on the controls. Slowing down and being extra-aware of your surroundings can go a long way to ensuring a safe trip even in challenging driving conditions.

Small But Mighty Drive Experience with the 2014 Ford Fiesta

Small is Smart and the 2014 Ford Fiesta is prove of that. On Wednesday September 10th, I had the pleasure of participating in an exclusive drive experience to Zoo Atlanta. The 2014 Fiesta 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is a small turbo that delivers a punch and is America’s most fuel-efficient, non-hybrid, gasoline-powered car with an EPA-estimated rating of 45 mpg on the highway.

Some of my favorites features includes:
  • Ford's MyKey: a new feature on Fiesta, which enables parents in particular to encourage safer driving and limit their teenagers exposure to risk at the wheel. The system allows owners to configure maximum speed and audio volume limits. It also mutes audio until seat belts are fastened and ensures driver aids, safety systems and more vigorous alerts cannot be deactivated when used.
  •  MyFord Touch: System with 6.5 inch touch screen that features enhanced voice controls and provides drivers with more options that includes navigation, entertainment and more
  • Awesome Safely features: Driver Knee Airbags, Side-Curtain Airbags, Child Safety rear locks, Tire Pressure monitoring system and Anti- theft engine immobilizer
  • Hot Color Combinations

Wade Ford Opens New Sales and Service Center

To ensure Cobb County residents continue to have the best selection of Ford products and premium service, Wade Ford celebrated the grand reopening of their all-new sales and service facility on Friday night with attendees that include the company’s President & CEO, Alan Mulally, Mayor Max Bacon, Congressman David Scott, employees and customers. This two million dollar renovation brings an even better car buying experience to local residents.
“Wade Ford is following the long tradition of Ford Motor Company in delivering the best products and service to our customers,” Steve Ewing, owner of Wade Ford, said. “Our dealership wants to provide the very best experience to everyone who walks through the door and at the same time continue to support critical program in our growing community.”

Steve Ewing has dedicated his career to the automotive industry and his community. He began at a dealership in New Jersey, rising through the ranks quickly from salesman to manager to general manager. Ewing started with Ford Motor Company in 1992 when he accepted a position as Interim Operator, responsible for managing franchises the automobile company owned. Since then, Ewing has grown with the company, and its network of other dealerships through the Ford Motor Company’s Dealer Development Program. Purchasing Wade Ford in 2002, Ewing’s staff offers new, pre-owned and fleet vehicles from three properties located on South Cobb Drive.

The dealership continues to support the local Atlanta community by sponsoring the Wade Ford Summer Concert Series each year, the Campbell High School Soccer and Football teams and participating in Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program alternating support for local high schools.

The new dealership, Gwinnett Place Ford Lincoln, is located on 3232 Satellite Blvd, in Duluth, Georgia.
