2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE

Super chic, smooth and comfortable are just a few words to describe the 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE. Back in 2015 I had the pleasure of reviewing the 2015 Toyota Camry XLE  (click here for review) and with the Hybrid I've noticed amazing performance and handling.

The Camry has been known for its smooth ride and quiet, roomy interior, but the earlier overhaul added nicer materials and improved controls to the mix. Toyota's engineers also tightened up the handling, making the sport-tuned SE the most athletic Camry Hybrid yet. Fuel economy remains the car's strong point, checking in at an EPA-estimated 40 mpg in mixed driving.

Amazing exterior  includes:  bumper cover and prominent grille. Stylist  hood that has notable character lines and muscular tender flares. Brighter LED low-and high-beam headlights with sleek housings.

The Camry Hybrid knows how to balance power for fuel efficiency. With Hybrid Synergy Drive®, the combined output of both the gas and electric motors is an impressive 200 hp. And because of its advanced design, lightweight materials and refined aerodynamics, you can go farther for less.

You can select ECO mode to optimize throttle response and air conditioning output to maximize efficiency. EV mode switches the Camry Hybrid to electric power for up to 1.6 miles at speeds below 25 mph. In-dash indicators let the driver know how economically the car is being operated.

  1. When the available Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) detects a vehicle, it illuminates a warning indicator on the appropriate sideview mirror to help you know when it’s safe to change lanes.
  2. Vehicle Stability Control is a system that helps prevent side skids and help stabilize the vehicle while turning on a curve.
  3. If an inadvertent lane departure is detected, the available Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system issues an audible warning and displays a warning on the instrument panel. It’s one more way Camry helps look out for you.
  4. Camry’s available Pre-Collision System (PCS) works with the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) system to anticipate if a frontal collision is imminent. If so, under certain conditions, the system automatically applies the brakes.

The 2016 Camry comes standard with a four-cylinder engine. Only XSE and XLE have a V6 option. Camry LE ($23,070) is equipped with air conditioning, power driver's seat, Entune touchscreen audio/infotainment, rearview camera, 16-inch steel wheels. (Prices are MSRP and do not include destination.)

Camry SE ($23,840) features a sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch graphite-finish alloy wheels, black headlight bezels, a rear spoiler, and a black mesh grille. Inside are SofTex simulated-leather upholstery and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. Camry Special Edition ($25,715) adds to SE a sunroof, keyless entry/starting, Qi wireless charging, Entune Audio Plus, blue interior accents, and 18-inch wheels.

Camry XSE ($26,310) and XSE V6 ($31,370) adds 18-inch wheels to the SE, along with leather-trimmed Ultrasuede seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and LED headlights. Camry XSE V6 also gets a universal garage-door opener, sunroof, and wireless charging.

Camry XLE ($26,310) and XLE V6 ($31,370) include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated leather power front seats, driver's power lumbar support, and 17-inch Super Chrome alloy wheels.

Camry Hybrid models are similarly equipped.
