Ford 'Ride and Drive' Experience at 2015 Essence Music Festival

As bad as I wanted to jump behind the wheel of another Mustang, I decided to try out the 2015 Ford Flex during the Ford Ride and Drive at Essence Music Festival. Ford gave festival goers a chance to drive and evaluate the Flex, Edge, Explorer, Taurus, Mustang, Focus and F-150.

The Ford Flex is a full-size crossover utility vehicle -- the exterior stands out from the crowd with its flat lines, creased sheetmetal, and boxy styling. As large as the Flex is it handles great and very easy to drive.

Flex has the power and control features to get you where you want to go, and the amenities to help make getting there easier. The available 3.5L EcoBoost V6 delivers enough power and torque to haul a heavy load. Control features include standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC) and available Intelligent all-wheel drive. To help alert you to objects behind your vehicle, a rear view camera is available. The available Navigation System with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link provides guidance to help get you where you need to go, plus offers tons of informational extras—like traffic info, gas prices, sports scores and more. While SYNC with MyFord or MyFord Touch provides eyes-on-the-road, hands-on-the-wheel functionality. And because every trip should be enjoyable, go ahead and crank up the available 390-watt Audio System from Sony.

  • Flex provides standard seven-passenger seating capacity.
  • 18/25 City/Highway MPG
  • Starts $29,100 MSRP
